Jayne Dolder

Founder and Creative Director

Jayne is the Founder of Bazaar Group. She began her working life in a variety of secretarial roles in her home town of Nottingham. She then relocated to the Borders where she developed her career to become PA to Company Directors. On return to Nottingham she fulfilled a similar role for Directors at PWC and Boots Plc.

Motivated by wanting to have a bean bag similar to that which her father had made her as a child, she designed and made her first product. Friends and family quickly decided they wanted one too and this is how the business began. It coincided with the fledgling days of ecommerce and Ebay listings quickly developed with a significant number of orders allowing Jayne to concentrate on the business full time.

Jayne enjoyed tremendous support from her family to help to grow the business initially in Nottingham and then in rural Northumberland.

The company moved to its first commercial premises in 2006 and its steady growth since finds it in its third commercial premises with a strong team with specialist skills which has allowed Jayne to focus on the creative direction of the business.

MArk Dolder

Managing Director

Mark’s career began as a management trainee at Marks and Spencer where he quickly climbed the ladder enjoying 14 years in operational store management culminating in operational responsibility for Marks and Spencer’s second largest store and largest region.

From there he became Sales Director of Norweb Retail, growing the business from £90 million turnover to £270 million turnover in three years and establishing it as the third largest electrical retailer in the UK.

He then chose to relocate to his native North East where he became Operations Director for Edinburgh Woollen Mill with responsibility for 300 shops in a variety of different sectors.

After leaving the company on its sale he created a property development and management consultancy business and then went on to combine forces with his then partner Jayne to develop her established bean bag company.

He has worked with Jayne as Co Director and Managing Director of Bazaar Group for fourteen years and has overseen the company’s development from a spare room over the garage to its current operational premises.


Philippe Galland

Head of Sales & Marketing

Philippe has a thorough knowledge of brand building, consumer marketing, product development and innovation gained in major global FMCG such as Procter & Gamble, Masterfoods, Pentland and a number of SME business. With a background in Chemistry from Montpellier University, Philippe initially worked on the development of electrode for the battery for electric car. However, he found is true passion in marketing when he joined P&G and moved to the UK over 20 years ago. Now, Head of Sales & Marketing for Bazaar Group, he combines brand and commercial flair to furniture design.

Philippe is an experienced skier and raced from the age of 8 years. He also climbed extensively around the world on rock, snow and ice. His motto is: ‘falling is not the issue. It’s where you land that is the problem’. He now rides mountain bikes and road bikes whenever he can.

Allison CHatten

Head of Design & Development

Allison has a degree in Fashion Marketing from Northumbria University. With a passion for design and a creative talent, Allison started her career in retail management with a strong commercial focus. She moved her career into furniture design with Fuda International designing products for major retailers such as Tesco and Dunelm.

Allison joined Bazaar Group in 2008 and has been inspirational in her input, design and creation of our range. Many of the key Bazaar Group pieces are Allison’s designs and she now leads a team of highly talented designers who are pushing the boundaries within the global soft furnishing market. 

JEAN PEARSON

Chief Accountant

Jean qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG in 1987 at their Newcastle Office. On qualification, she went to work for ICI as a Deputy Business Accountant at their Catalyst and Technology Licensing business. Jean then joined Coopers & Lybrand Management Consultancy (now PWC) as part of the Financial Management and Business Assessment Division. As part of C&L management consultancy she worked with companies such as Royal Mail, Bells Whiskey, Northern Electric, Northumbrian Water, National Grid, on a variety of business improvement projects.

Following this, Jean then joined Entec, the largest subsidiary of Northumbrian Water plc after the water business, as their Group Financial Controller in 1994 before taking a career break to look after her 2 young children. Jean returned to part time work as a chartered accountant for a number of businesses in the North East, before joining Bazaar Group in February of 2016.

FRANCA STANNERS

Purchasing Manager

Franca’s career started in production planning within the electronics industry and progressed to the role of Purchasing Management. A move to a purchasing role within the pharmaceutical industry then saw Franca headhunted back into electronics in senior buying and purchasing roles. Franca joined Bazaar Group with a strong managerial career in production planning, buying and purchasing and heads up a skilled team.

When she’s not at work Franca is enjoys running and yoga. She also enjoys Indian cookery.

Helen Svensson

Human Resource Manager

Helen graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in Management and Organisational Behaviour – with a strong focus on Human Resource Management, psychology within the workplace and employee relations. This triggered an interest in how to motivate and develop people. Whilst juggling a career in HR which covered an area from Inverness down to Exeter, across to Belfast and everywhere in between, Helen completed the CIPD post-graduate scheme leading to full CIPD membership. 

With a passion for travel, Helen also enjoyed providing HR management for teams within the Netherlands, Germany, France and Poland. Helen’s managerial career in HR has covered a variety of sectors including construction, digital, retail and e-commerce for diverse employers ranging from SME all the way through to a US Fortune 100 organisation and back again.

Outside of HR, Helen’s passions include travel, running and exploring the stunning Northumbrian coastline with her young family.

JAMES SIMPSON

Operations Manager

James began his career in agriculture before moving into a career in contracting and construction. His construction experience was focused within Supply Chain and Planning with a number of high profile projects under his belt. James relocated to the north east and made a career change into warehousing  and production. His experience within the furniture industry progressed at Fuda with the role of Furniture Supervisor.

After a number of years of success at Fuda, James moved to Bazaar Group for a new challenge and change of direction. Within his current role James oversees the operations of Bazaar Group including production, dispatch, logistics, facilities and health and safety.
