eCommerce Manager

Main Purpose of Job:

The eCommerce Commercial & Merchandising Manager is responsible for delivering the commercial performance of the BGRP proprietary digital channels (web) - BeanBagBazaar and Mallo. This encompasses the day-to-day tactical implementation of key levers within the eCommerce team that will drive sales and profit. The role will ensure tight control of budgets, including PPC.

The eCommerce Commercial & Merchandising Manager will be a commercially focused, ambitious individual who can deliver results through exceptional management of external and internal stakeholders.  Strong product knowledge, focus on sales and the ability to be flexible in a dynamic eCommerce environment is key.

The role

eCommerce Plan & Strategy Execution:

  • Drive the execution of the eCommerce annual plan and longer term strategy, including sales plans, promotional activities, and customer acquisition/retention strategies

  • Drive sales and profit across all proprietary digital channels

  • Analyse all relevant performance data to make informed decisions and develop marketing and merchandising strategies

  • Work closely with the Marketing Planning Manager to analyze market trends, customer behavior, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and guide commercial decisions

  • Work closely with the Marketing team to plan and execute promotional campaigns, discounts, and offers to drive traffic, increase sales and profitability, and clear inventory in alignment with business objectives

  • Monitor and track competitor activity and pricing. Develop and manage competitor strategies to strengthen/grow market share

  • Work closely with the wider commercial team and business to deliver pricing and promotional strategy, with key seasonal sales periods in place to drive sales and profitability

  • Work closely with the eCommerce Technical Activation Executive to develop strategies for website optimization, including navigation, product pages, checkout process, and mobile responsiveness

  • Proactively participate with Product Development, Procurement, Operations and Marketing to shape our product portfolio in line with commercial requirements

 Digital Marketing & Customer Acquisition:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute digital marketing campaigns (SEO, SEM, email marketing, social media) aimed at driving traffic and acquiring new customers

  • Complete ownership of budget management including the optimisation of PPC spend to revenue to achieve sales forecasts

  • Manage PPC of internal accounts and management of 3rd party PPC agencies. Drive sales performance through excellent campaign management

  • Work collaboratively to develop and support the implementation of the email marketing strategy, including the expansion of the email lists and the ROI from this channel

  • Implement, monitor and optimize campaigns to improve ROI and conversion rates

Merchandising:

  • Work closely with the eCommerce Technical Activation Executive to develop and implement merchandising strategies that align with overall business objectives, ensuring a compelling and seamless online shopping experience

  • Work closely with the eCommerce Technical Activation Executive to develop and execute territory specific tone of voice with accurate and relevant cultural translations

  • Work collaboratively across the business to develop engaging product content, including images, descriptions, and videos, to enhance the online shopping experience

Forecasting:

  • Acting as forecasting lead, work collaboratively with the wider team and finance to provide accurate and timely forecasts

  • Lead on annual and quarterly plans to accompany forecast

  • Coordinate with sourcing team and Data Insights Manager to ensure adequate stock levels, manage inventory turnover, and optimize fulfillment processes for timely and accurate order delivery

Sales Analysis & Performance Tracking:

  • Comprehensive reporting on web performance to drive action and insight for commercial improvements. Including the use of Adwords, GA4, Looker, SEMRush and other reporting tools.

  • Prepare regular reports and provide insights to inform decision-making and strategy adjustments

Customer Experience & Support:

  • Monitor and enhance the online customer experience, addressing issues and feedback, promptly to ensure customer satisfaction and retention

  • Focus on returns management with full understanding of what drives returns and provide actions to reduce the levels of returns for the relevant web channels

  • Explore the opportunity to implement customer support strategies, including live chat, FAQs, and feedback mechanisms

Education and Qualifications:

  • Degree educated ideally from a digital, business or marketing related degree, or equivalent experience

  • Good general level of education in core numeracy & literacy subjects

Relevant experience:

  • A proven track record of achievement in a commercially oriented role, with demonstrable experience of contributing to the growth of a business
